Willard Katsande says Khama Billiat has the courage of his convictions to recover from his poor spell of form.
Billiat has been criticised for his low scoring return this season despite his contribution to the team in other areas of the field.
The 30-year-old has just one goal and two assists in 20 games in all competitions for Kaizer Chiefs this season.
Captain Katsande explained the Zimbabwe attacker remains an important member of the Amakhosi squad.
Speaking ahead of their Premiership clash with Stellenbosch FC on Sunday, Katsande offered his support to his teammate.
He said on Goal: "Khama is a big player and in most cases, criticism comes only to big players. I know he knows how to deal with it but as a player, he ought to remain focused.
"He is important and we are not worried he will deal with it, we are praying to keep the winning spirit in us."
Chiefs head into their upcoming encounter five points clear of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns from 25 games.
